Fundamentally, engineering is the science and technology related to the design, building, and use of engines, machines, and structures. Engineering brings together the fields of science and math to resolve real world problems. Engineering is the concrete application of scientific and mathematical principles to solve actual problems.
Today, there are six major branches of engineering: Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Management, and Geotechnical. These main branches each contain hundreds of different subcategories of engineering.
